What's covered, how it works, and why it matters for household, vehicle and office relocations.
Even with careful packing and experienced handling, a move involves loading, transit and unloading — steps where accidents, while rare, can happen. Transit insurance protects the value of your belongings against damage or loss during that process, so an incident doesn't become a financial loss on top of the disruption of moving itself.
Coverage is arranged at the survey stage, based on the declared value of the goods being moved, and applies across the full journey — packing, loading, transport and unloading.

Transit insurance covers accidental damage or loss to your goods while they're being packed, loaded, transported and unloaded during your move.
It's optional, but strongly recommended, especially for interstate, international, or high-value moves where transit time is longer.
Coverage is typically based on the declared value of the goods being moved, agreed before the move at the survey stage.
Report the damage at the time of delivery and document it with photos, so it can be processed against your selected coverage.
Coverage terms can differ for items you packed yourself versus items packed by our crew — ask us to clarify this for your specific move.
Car and bike transport have their own insurance options separate from household goods coverage — see our vehicle transportation services for details.
